Serving People in Need Through Treatment and Training

Chreso Ministries is a non-profit, faith-based, non-governmental organization committed to serving individuals and families in Zambia. “Chreso” is derived from the Greek word “Chrezo,” meaning “need,” reflecting our dedication to addressing the critical needs of our communities.

Our History

Chreso Ministries was initially founded in 1994 as a social outreach of Gospel Outreach Fellowship, born out of Rev. Helmut Reutter and Mrs. Reutter’s realization of the need for a dedicated organization to combat the HIV/AIDS pandemic. In 1996, Chreso Ministries was formally incorporated as a non-governmental, not-for-profit, and faith-based organization.

What We Do

Chreso Ministries is dedicated to holistic development, encompassing:

Health: Providing HIV/AIDS counseling, testing, and support, including antiretroviral treatment (ART). We have been on the PEPFAR program since 2004 and partner with organizations like Catholic Relief Services (CRS).
Care: Operating Fountain Gate Children’s Home, providing care for orphans and vulnerable children in a nurturing environment.
Education: Offering education from preschool to Grade 12 through Gospel Outreach Christian Academy (GOCA), Mubuyu Christian Academy (MCA), and Fountain Gate Christian Academy (FGCA). We also run a vocational training center and established Chreso University in 2010, focusing on health-related career programs.

Mission: To serve individuals and families in Zambian communities with life-changing programs in education, public health, and care, designed to bring about sustainable and self-reliant development.
Vision: To be a center of attraction for the highest quality service, investing know-how and resources to achieve significantly changed lives, with emphasis on the vulnerable and the sick, providing state-of-the-art public health, care, and educational services up to the University level.
